The town Jilemnice offers many possibilities to make trips to surrounding countryside. After 20 minutes walking from the main square, along Valdštejnská Street, we come to a hill called Kozinec. It offers a very nice view of the Giant Mountains and the inland as well. At the rear part of Kozinec, there are remains of medieval copper mines.

After only 30 minutes walking along Jan Harrach Street, then along a stadium and roller-skate track we come to Hraběnka. There is a beautiful scenic overlook of Giant Mountains with possibility to make a pleasant forest walk.

If we start from the square, we can also make a trip to a mountain called Žalý. We go along Valdštejnská Street, follow a tourist track to Hrabačov and Horní Štěpanice with a castle ruin. Then we come to Benecko and directly to the top of Žalý (1020m). There is a view tower on the top with beautiful views of the inland and Giant Mountains.
