The Ski
Resorts in the Giant Mountains belong to the most visited and popular resorts
in the Czech Republic. Millions of visitors find here a great variety of sport
and cultural activities.
The famous
resort Špindlerův Mlýn offers several possibilities to thrill yourself – a
banked chute and toboggan run and the popular snowtubing and hanggliding.
Lovers of snowboard can enjoy a snowboard park and a U-ramp in the sports
facility at Svatý Petr. The hotels in Špindlerův Mlýn offer halls with tennis
courts,
swimming pools open for public,
squash courts, shooting grounds, areas for bowling and
skittle, fitness centers and saunas. If you
like romantic experiences, why not to make a sightseeing tour in a
horse-sleigh?
Pec pod
Sněžkou offers complete services of a mountain resort too. You can find here
well maintained ski slopes as well as a big park for snowboarders, which
operates all season long, and in the evenings there are available three ski
lifts with artificial lighting. There are also an in-door swimming pool,
saunas, fitness centers and tennis courts. It is possible to reach the top of
the highest mountain of the Czech Republic with a rope way or to use the
services of a snowmobile-taxi, which brings you from your car up to your hotel
or for a sightseeing trip.
Harachov is
well known especially for its ski jumps and belongs among the most visited
tourist resorts in our country. It offers ski slopes as well as 27 km of well
maintained paths for ski running which allow the skiers to return to Harrachov
after every 5 km. If you would like to enjoy a little bit of culture, you can
visit the Ski Museum or the Glass Museum, which informs about the famous
history of glass making in Harrachov. Directly in the town there is a banked
chute and in the premises of the farm Zlatá podkova in the nearby town of
Rokytnice nad Jizerou you can try snowtubing.
Another
popular winter resort is the spa Janské Lázně. It offers, in contrast to other
big resorts, a more peaceful atmosphere for body and soul. The visitors can
reach the top of the mountain Černá hora with a funicular ropeway. This
mountain is a crossroad of paths for ski running a the place of a natural
attraction – the moorland Černohorské rašeliniště.
